The global challenges of the 21st century require citizens who are scientifically literate problem-solvers. These are critical and creative thinkers who can seek, interpret and evaluate information and apply solutions that address ethical, personal, social and intercultural dimensions. That is- citizens who possess each of the general capabilities identified by NESA. The science syllabus provides ideal contexts for developing general capabilities, starting from our very youngest learners. We can't wait to explore this with you in our reformatted conference this year- the Science Teachers Association of NSW K-10 Science Conference.

Join us for this unique opportunity to learn outside of discipline-specific boundaries and dedicate time to considering how your students engage with science and develop their skills and capabilities. You will walk away with your mind brimming with ideas for your own teaching, not to mention a new-found enthusiasm and even some new friends.

Choose your format (in person or online) and your preferred strand (based on stages) and get in early to secure your place.

Program Outline:
The conference is divided into two strands by NSW Syllabus Stages: ES1 to  Stages 3 and Stages 4 -5.

Each stage-specific workshop will explore the development or assessment of one or more general capabilities in a context that aligns with the science or science and technology syllabus.

Target Audience:
Primary Teachers K-6
Junior Science Teachers 7-10
