On the cusp of National Science week, students gather for Science in the House

We are looking for schools across NSW to participate in Science in the House, a showcase of science education initiatives at NSW Parliament House on the 11th of August 2022, in the lead-up to National Science Week.
Each participating school will have access to an exhibition space of approximately 2m X 2m (2 to 3 rectangle tables) in which to showcase. Members of the NSW Parliament and their staff will be invited to drop by the exhibition space and engage with different booths and initiatives.
If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected] with your name, school and some brief details of the science project or initiative you would like to showcase.

Teachers and students across NSW met at parliament house yesterday to showcase science education initiatives in a bid to raise awareness of the innovative work that STEM students are doing across the state.

The Science in the House event was hosted the Minister for Education, the Hon Sarah Mitchell, and included an address by Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, the Hon Alister Henskens SC MP.

As part of Science in the House, Members of Parliament explored stalls and engaged with teachers and students. The event involved preimary and secondary students from state, independent, catholic, and home-schooling sectors.

“It's important for our policymakers to see the work and dedication of our science students and teachers, especially at a time when our teachers and schools are under more pressure than ever” said Irena Tasevska, Executive Officer, Science Teachers Association NSW.
