Call for Workshop Presenters: Leadership in Science Course
Share Your Expertise and Empower Science Educators

The Science Teachers Association of NSW invites you to join the team as a presenter in the 2024 Leadership in Science Course. This three-day event will take place in Term 1, 2 and 3 and provides a platform for science educators to share their expertise and insights in the role of a science leader with in schools.
2024 Theme:
Leadership Lab: Cultivating Skills for Future Science Heads Kickstart your leadership journey with the essential tools and insights for aspiring heads of science departments.
Term 1 - 4 April 2024
- Teambuilding and transitions (2 hours
- Classroom pedagogy in science (2 hours)
- Safety in science 1 (1 hour): chemical storage, lab design, out-of-faculty teachers' induction to lab work
Term 3 - 30 July 2024
- Restorative practice: encouraging supportive and respectful behaviour
- Assessment: consistent teacher judgment, quality assessment
- Safety in science 2 (1 hour): lab management (student-centred) risk assessments, consistent practices
Term 4 - 19 November 2024
- Conflict resolution
- Classroom behaviour management
- Staff management
- Programming
Learning Objectives:
- Develop leadership skills essential for effective science department heads
- Enhance understanding of teambuilding, transitions, and classroom pedagogy in science
- Cultivate expertise in safety practices within science laboratories
- Implement restorative practices for a supportive and respectful learning environment
- Master assessment techniques for consistent teacher judgment and quality assessment
- Enhance lab management skills through student-centered risk assessments and consistent practices
- Develop conflict resolution strategies for a harmonious and productive work environment
- Implement effective classroom behaviour management techniques
- Master staff management strategies for a cohesive and productive team

How to Apply:
Please submit a proposal outlining your presentation content, target audience, and preferred session format. Proposals should be no more than 300 words and should be submitted to [email protected]
Selection Process:
Our Leadership Course committee will review all proposals and select presenters based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the theme and objectives of the Leadership Course 2024
- Clarity and effectiveness of the presentation content
- Expertise and experience of the presenter
- Ability to engage and inspire the target audience
